Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a great Christmas break. Report cards have been mailed and should be signed and returned by Friday Jan.13th. The annual deer hunt will be this weekend Jan. 13-15. The school is asking that each family donate $5.00 or a homemade dessert by Friday if possible. Your help in making this fundraiser a success is greatly appreciated.

Next Thurs. Oct.27 is the Fall Festival. The 7th grade is in charge of the cake walk. We need every 7th grade student to bring a cake to be given away during the cake walk. We also need a few parent volunteers to help. The kids will work the cake walk but we need at least one parent for each time slot to make sure the kids are being fair. Homecoming is Sept. 23 so we have lots of activities coming up. We need each student to bring $2.00 to cover the cost of decorating our 7th grade sheet for the HC competition between the classes. We have to buy the sheet, paint, and paint brushes and anything else we will need to decorate it. Any money left over will be used to do something special for the class.

Algebra 1 students will need a calculator. It is very important that they have their own calculator and that they know how to use it. It does not have to be an expensive calculator but I would recommend getting a scientific calculator because they will need it later. My calculator is the TI-30XA (made by texas instruments) and I think it is less than $10.00 at Walmart.

School Supplies and Classroom Expectations

Each student must bring to class: paper (preferably in a 3 ring binder), their textbook, and a pencil. Students will not be allowed to use a pen in math class. Students may purchase a pencil from me for $.25 or they may borrow one from a classmate. If a student does not have these supplies when class begins then it is an automatic detention. This has been a problem in the past and is very disruptive when someone needs to borrow paper or a pencil in the middle of class.
I will post all major test dates and the sections that will be covered on the blog. I will also post all scheduled quizzes but I will not post daily homework. The homework will be written on the board next to the assigned class and will be left there until the next class. Students may come in after school if they need a reminder of the assignment. Welcome back! My name is Kristi O'Brien and I am very excited about this upcoming school year. I will be a 7th grade homeroom teacher and I will be teaching 7th grade math, pre-algebra, and algebra 1. I will be sending home student handbooks on Monday and registration cards for my homeroom students. Please complete these forms and return them by Friday. I will also need each homeroom student to bring $2.00 to pay for the cost of postage used to mail their report cards this year. This will be done instead of having to bring self addressed stamped envelopes. I will use the title of "homeroom news" to keep you updated on any money that is due or other information related to 7th graders. Also, please remember to pay for their lockers ($60.00) in the office and make sure your child has a lock for both lockers (school and gym).
